March Against Monsanto Las Vegas: Press Release

Las Vegas Joins the National ‘March Against Monsanto’
May 21st – 10:00am – Fremont East, outside Beauty Bar

LAS VEGAS, NV – 5/20/16- On May 21st 2016, protesters will join the national March Against Monsanto, starting on Fremont just east of Las Vegas Boulevard, outside the Beauty Bar and ending at Las Vegas City Hall at 495 South Main Street. The local march will start with a rally at 10am and will feature guest speakers, information and more before marching a route down Fremont and around downtown before ending at City Hall, our final rallying point. Rally speakers (English as well as Spanish) will highlight the plight of Monsanto’s domination of our country’s food supply and their infiltration of hazardous GMOs (genetically modified organisms) into seed crops and animal feed.

Citizens are marching because Monsanto’s products are harmful to people and the planet, including exclusive patenting rights over seeds and genetic makeup, specifically GMOs, engineered from the DNA of different species of plant, animal, bacterial, and viral genes. Monsanto’s genetically-modified foods can lead to serious health conditions such as the development of cancer tumors, infertility and birth defects. Monsanto’s Roundup, can be linked to these same diseases, as well as Parkinson’s. Evidence also indicates that residues of “glyphosate,” the chief ingredient in Roundup weed killer, which is sprayed over millions of acres of crops, has been found in our food and in our bodies, as well as causing colony collapse among the world’s bee population. Glyphosate is the cancer-linked herbicide that is an essential component in the expansion of GMO crops, and has already been banned around the world over safety concerns. Here in the United States, glyphosate is consistently being discovered in everything from hospital feeding tubes and tampons to the breast milk of nursing mothers.

Other concerns to be addressed will be the use of BT in genetically modified corn, which was also used in the chemical weapon Agent Orange in the Vietnam War, as well as the mission to get all GMO products labeled as such, which has seen great progress as well as great resistance from Monsanto and their corporate cohorts in recent years.

According to the website, hundreds of thousands of concerned citizens are expected to gather across more than 38 countries and 428 cities to join in peaceful protest as a part of the grassroots movement. Our Facebook page address is and the event page is . Locally made red March Against Monsanto T-shirts will be provided, created just days before the event.

Join us in this year’s national day of action to bring awareness to the next level!
