Honor the Fallen- March Against the War on Terror!

by Jason Nellis, with contributions from Ashley Nicole York and Ezra Van Auken

This Memorial Day, honor the fallen and all troops yet to have fallen by pledging to March Against The War On Terror in your city or State Capitol on Saturday, August 3rd. They fought to defend our country, and we must fight in any way we can to restore our country to the country they took an oath to protect, one that doesn’t start wars of aggression, practice tyranny, and promise false hope of security at the expense of freedom.

“If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.” -James Madison

For the past 12 years, we have been at war against a non-specific enemy on multiple stages, and at that, against a noun that means “the use of fear to intimidate people; esp. for political reasons”. Aside from the obvious hypocrisy of what our military is supposed to be fighting against, war should NOT be perpetual, and we will never end the cycle of blowback or “terror” as long as we are killing innocents and creating more terrorists. Afghanistan has gone on longer than Vietnam, a war that produced years of protests that played a huge part in our withdrawal, and that’s not our only front. We saw huge protests all over the world, including in the U.S., when the war in Iraq started, and all throughout Bush’s presidency, so where have the anti-war protests gone?

“No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare. ” -James Madison

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? Well, if the very recent rise in anti-Government sentiment due to the huge scandals surrounding the Obama administration is a sign of the pendulum swinging, well that justified sweeping outrage is about to manifest as massive outpourings of expression and unrest across the nation. And we must organize our outlets and show up in well thought-out force; we have strength in numbers and those numbers when gathered show where the true power lies. Not with the elite wagers of war, but with we the people, as it is meant to be.

“Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force…Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.” -George Washington

Now many, many of those who have been defending the current administration since the start are reevaluating the legitimacy of our Government and it is time for every disillusioned person to also wake up to the fact that the War on Terror and everything even “vaguely” tyrannical apparently started under Bush are continuing and being taken to an even further degree under Obama. This is no longer an issue dividing Democrats and Republicans. It is nearly unanimous now that the wars need to end. It should be getting very clear to most Americans now that it does not matter if the President is Republican or Democrat, it may not even matter who the President is; the powers that keep this perpetual war in place and us constantly in terror are getting their way, no matter what we are promised.

“No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare. ” -James Madison

Please DO NOT believe Obama’s latest attempt at damage control, his speech that the mainstream media took as an “end of the war on terror”. After promising to close Guantanamo Bay once he takes office, when running for President, he again has claimed he will, well, really try hard to close it. Don’t be fooled again. And again. And again. We’ll see what happens with the approximately 68,000 troops in Afghanistan and Iraq and more spread throughout the Middle East. All he has right now are words and rhetoric. He’s been President over four years and Afghanistan’s worst years were during his second and third years. The more we are promised “it will be over soon”, the more placated people are and we just wait, and wait, and we’re still hearing about troops killed and hundreds of innocents killed as “collateral damage” in another decade. Prisoners will still be winding up in Guantanamo Bay without any due process or proof of actually being a terrorist. And certainly, drones will be killing more innocents than ever. Already, for every drone strike, an average of 50 civilians are killed for every terrorist.

“Political language… is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable.” -George Orwell

And perhaps the most underreported story of troop deaths is the suicide rate of active troops has been higher than the rate of combat deaths for the past four years. Troop morale plunged years ago in the war on terror, and it has been known for many years that PTSD is an epidemic in the military, so this is destroying the lives and minds of tens and hundreds of thousands of soldiers. Not to mentioned the many times more that have been wounded- lost limbs, paralyzed, lost sight, hearing, all their lives damaged forever, due to an illegitimate perpetual war based on lies, against a noun that our Government and the Media uses against us and the world on a daily basis. Now we must continue the fight with the info weapons we still have available.

“I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity.” -Dwight D. Eisenhower

And make no mistake, the War on Terror is not just an overseas Middle East war. If anyone somehow thinks that we’re not directly affected, just remind them that Americans have been killed by drones as part of this War on Terror, and the Obama Administration has now admitted to it. And not only are suspected terrorists targets (already the terms of what makes one a suspect are far too vague), but the entire American public is victimized, as was made maddeningly clear in the Martial Law aftermath of the Boston bombings. And it’s obvious by acts such as the NDAA that America is part of the battlefield of the War on Terror, and given recent drastic militaristic reactions to individuals such as the *suspected* Boston bomber and Christopher Dorner, we are now a primary front. Not to mention the scandals that have blown up in the press. We CANNOT continue down this path. This is why we declared independence from British rule, and this may very well be turning out to be a much more severe case.

“Those who give up essential liberties for temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” -Benjamin Franklin

A “War on Terror” is not designed to be won. You cannot end terror forever. But you can end a “War” on “Terror”. This ENTIRE CONCEPT MUST END if we wish to survive as a country. We don’t have much time left before people see no choice of having a peaceful revolution, but we must gather forces and minds and give another huge push, an anti-war fight we haven’t stood up for in far too long. This is of course only one front among others also being fought this year, but it is a widely encompassing vital front, because we have been led into this age of tyranny under the guise of this “War on Terror”. This is part of the integral next step in the evolution of our Revolution, and we should take part in every cause we are passionate about, for our country is at its most vital crossroads since the first American Revolution.

The message is clear and this will take place in front of the most significant government buildings across America, including every State Capitol, to send this unignorable message to everyone in Government. This goes far beyond party lines and everyone can get behind this end to the War on Terror. It is time to GET UP OFF YOUR ASSES and BE HEARD! And to all who have been going to marches, getting politically active, helping at the grassroots level, anything- continue the fight and attend this march! If you don’t see a page for your city or state, create one! This is just getting started and we need all the organizational help we can get! WE ARE the change we wish to see in this world. And since I have mainly friends in Las Vegas, check out the Las Vegas event page here: March Against The War On Terror – Las Vegas

Fellow freedom and liberty fighter and anti-war event organizer Ashley Nicole York makes her case:

“The March Against Monsanto and turn out inspired me to get involved with this particular march. We need to get back to the basics and remember that not everyone is as passionate or aware of the corruption as others, but everyone can get on board with what is in their food and being against the war… not everyone is knowledgeable about Federal Reserve or NDAA. But I don’t know one person who would honestly not get behind an anti-war march to show that enough is enough. I believe the time is now to really make anti-war protests cool again and I think this will help bring awareness back to the forefront, because it has a tendency to slip into the dark every now and then. We must keep the passion of Liberty alive and well.”

As well as event organizer Ezra Van Auken:

“We’re marching in August because since 2001 our nation has been in perpetual and unsustainable war. We’ve fought losing occupations at the expense of our national security and taxpayers. It’s time we realize that war is counter-productive toward a free and prosperous society.”

From the main event page:

For over a decade now the “War on Terror” has expanded, raged and placed itself in a handful of regions. A grim reality is that the War on Terror IS terror, and foreign occupation itself is what causes foreign attacks on U.S. and European soil (blowback). With this event, we hope to bring likeminded folks together who believe in a foreign policy of non-intervention to promote the ideas of peace and prosperity. Let’s send a clear message to the Government that the anti-war movement is very much alive and that regardless of whose administration is in office, the people see what is truly going on.
